As part of a case of a fire which had ravaged the defendant’s house in Stoumont, his telephone was the subject of an analysis. “On this device, investigators found a series of photographs of young teenage girls and conversations of a sexual nature that he had with them,” explained the public prosecutor.

The modus operandi with his victims was always the same, she then noted: the young man “spots his victims on social networks, contacts them, exchanges a few trivialities with them before asking them their age. Another concern was whether they were a couple or not. Through open questions, he encourages victims to confide and share their sexual experiences.

He arranged meetings

Once the conversation started, the defendant suggested they meet. In the most serious cases, the young man, described as a “predator” by the public prosecutor, went as far as assaulting sexual integrity and rape, which the prosecution considers established for one or even two victims.

At the bar, the young man, who is incarcerated, claimed not to know the difference between discussions with a minor and an adult. He felt he “did nothing wrong by asking these questions and talking with” his victims.

The court will deliver its judgment on December 22.
