Computer Fraud Mastermind: The Story of Giuseppe’s Scams and Legal Battle

2023-11-25 11:01:00

He was considered the mastermind of a computer fraud committed once morest an old lady from Borinage. Giuseppe had announced that he had found a pigeon “to pluck”, in the person of Jenny, encountered on a dating site, and daughter of the old lady.

A few weeks following their first meeting, Jenny had emptied the bank account of her mother who was hospitalized due to illness, i.e. 56,000 euros! Giuseppe was pulling the strings.

This sick woman is not Giuseppe’s only victim. In the summer of 2020, he threw himself on the hood of a car. The driver, an elderly man, stopped to help her. Giuseppe fooled him, telling him that his wife’s pregnancy was going badly and that he owed 30,000 euros to an Albanian. The old man fell into the trap and was robbed of almost 50,000 euros. A great scam.

Two years in prison

On February 23, 2022, the tenth criminal chamber of the Hainaut court, Mons division, sentenced Giuseppe to two years in prison, as a repeat offender, and to a fine of 8,000 euros for computer fraud committed in Boussu, between February 19 and March 6, 2020, and a scam.

The judgment was appealed and the court ordered the appointment of a panel of mental health experts, at the request of Me Michel Bouchat, Giuseppe’s lawyer.

After several months of waiting, the report arrived and the expert concluded that Louviérois Giuseppe was suffering from a mental disorder at the time of the events. This disorder still exists. He is therefore not responsible for his actions and his place is in a care home.

It is therefore logical that the court ordered his internment, even if this does not suit the lawyers of the civil parties.
