Goldwind Americas, a multinational in the sustainable energy sector, achieved an unprecedented feat by installing a huge offshore wind turbine in just 24 hours. The offshore structure has the capacity to generate up to 16 megawatts (MW) and size equivalent to a 50-story buildingthat is, approximately 145 meters.
This is not the first 16 MW turbine installed by the company. In September, another unit with the same characteristics came into operation by Goldwind, expanding the company’s operations in energy generation. This generator was able to deliver 384.1 MWh within 24 hours following a typhoon passed near the installation site.
On its official LinkedIn profile, the company celebrated the installation in record time, stating that the GWH252 model was completed in just one day. Goldwind explains that this was possible thanks to the adoption of “strategies that preventively optimized processes through stimuli”. There are no details regarding the advances implemented.
The manufacturer concludes by reinforcing that this “not only significantly reduced construction costs, but also served as a vital advance in expanding offshore wind potential in future projects.”, indicating that upcoming installations may also rely on this innovative construction process.
