The chief spokesman for the Israeli army, Daniel Hagari, published a video clip on his “X” account, which he accompanied with a comment in which he said: “Combat aircraft recently launched a raid on targets of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon.”
Hagari added: “The forces attacked and destroyed the sites from which fire was fired on our lands in recent days, as well as the military sites from which the organization’s terrorists were active.”
Lebanese media reported that Israeli artillery shelling occurred on the outskirts of the Khiam Plain, Kafr Kila, and Markab in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon.
On Thursday, areas in northern Israel witnessed intense bombardment originating from Lebanese territory, in continuation of tensions in the border area between the two countries.
Israeli Army Radio described the bombing as “the heaviest since the beginning of the war,” noting that “at least 50 missiles were launched from Lebanon toward the Upper Galilee.”
Since the start of the cross-border escalation, 107 people have been killed in Lebanon, including 75 Hezbollah fighters and 14 civilians, including 3 journalists, according to a tally prepared by Agence France-Presse.
The Israeli authorities, for their part, reported that 9 people were killed, including 3 civilians.
On Wednesday night, Hezbollah announced the killing of 5 of its fighters, including Abbas, the son of the head of its parliamentary bloc, MP Muhammad Raad, following Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon.
