Since this Thursday, and for three days, Emmanuel Persinest has been on trial for the murder of his partner, mother of three children born from a previous union, in 2016. As explained by our colleagues atUnionhe has been detained since 2019. Several elements led the Laon investigating judge to request the indictment of this man, involved in the death of his partner, Pascaline Acquart, in 2016.

On June 15, 2016, Pascaline Acquart’s small Nissan Micra went to the right, rolled over before stopping in a ditch. Ejected from the vehicle, the driver, aged 43, died on the spot. His passenger appeared to be drunk. He had refused to be transported to the emergency room. Pascaline Acquart had gone to pick up Emmanuel Persinest that same morning from Amiens prison, where he was serving a sentence for the violence he had inflicted on her.

Presumed innocent, Emmanuel Persin has constantly denied having played a role in the death of his partner. He explained that the strangulation marks were linked to sexual intercourse which had taken place earlier in the day. But investigators know that the relationship between the two was strained. Pascaline Acquart had even been violently beaten the day she was released from prison, a few hours before the road accident.
