Véronique Claveau thrives on new challenges and pleasure projects. When the opportunity to meet his long-time friend Marc-André Fortin on stage for the new show Disney in Concert: A Dream is a Wish presented herself to her, the singer might not refuse her.

Having dubbed Anna in the films Snow Queenthe multi-talented actress will have the great pleasure of reprising the song this weekend Renewal which she had not sung once more since recording the vocals in the studio in 2013.

“And I will have the chance to do it with the Orchestra [Philharmonique du Québec] at Wilfrid-Pelletier… it’s sure that for me it’s going to be a special moment,” she said between two rehearsals. The film was a great success with his little family who came to attend one of the performances. “My daughter still wears her Elsa dress,” she confirmed with a laugh.

This ephemeral event, which will only last one weekend, will highlight musical classics from Disney films, Cinderella has Moana.

“There will really be several styles; Cars it’s a little more rock, The princess and the Frog It takes place in New Orleans so it’s a little more Cajun music,” said Joël Legendre, who is directing the show, a first on the legendary stages of Willfrid-Pelletier.

“It’s like Disney has always brought me luck in my life; the first time I did dubbing was with Aladdin and there, the first time I’m going to the biggest room in Montreal, it’s with Disney once more. It seems to accompany me,” he added with a broad smile, Thursday, in the rehearsal room.

He also said he was much more “happy” to stage 50 musicians and four singers than to sing the theme song A new world. “I have no remorse. I think it’s great that Marc-André sings it and he sings it really well,” he continued.

Un spectacle international

Disney in concert is an international format that Just for Laughs has got its hands on. Joël Legendre then adapted it and converted it into a French-speaking version.

“A particular feature that I added was to do post-sync, like dubbing, because I saw characters who were speaking, but there were no words… it was louder “I’ve been doing this for 35 years, I’ve added little ones,” said the director.

Dressed in beautiful clothes, the four performers Véronique Claveau, Marc-André Fortin, Sarah-Maude Desgagnés and Philippe Touzel, will be accompanied by the Orchester Philharmonique du Québec, under the direction of Alexandre Da Costa, while a giant screen will project cartoons.

Projects don’t stretch

In an interview with the QMI Agency, Véronique Claveau admitted to having a weakness for relatively short projects which allow her to touch on everything. “It’s a world where there are so many possibilities and so much talent. I find it fun to be able to meet people and to be able to discover others,” she said, citing as an example her colleague Sarah-Maude, whom she finds extraordinary and whose talent dazzles her.

“A project like Disney in concert it’s something that won’t come back, it’s a moment that I savor, but then it’s over and we move on to something else,” added the winner of the first season of Masked singers.

Disney in Concert: A Dream is a Wish will be presented from November 24 to 26 at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts.
