There will be a lot of fresh snow in the mountains on Saturday and Sunday.

The zero degree limit is 4000 meters. The cloud cover will increase on Friday night and it will also be heavily cloudy throughout the day, with a few showers possible. The snowfall limit is 1200 meters and will fall as the day progresses.

The federal government warns of amounts of snow

From Friday to Sunday midday, up to half a meter of fresh snow will fall on the mountains in the north, with up to one meter possible in some regions.

Because of the heavy snowfall, the federal government has increased the danger level for some regions. The areas affected are Einsiedeln-Wägital, Glarus, Kerenzerberg-Seeztal, Muotathal, Sarganserland and Werdenberg. The warning applies from Friday 3 p.m. to Sunday 3 p.m. The federal government warns of restrictions on road, rail and air traffic.

On Sunday itself, however, an intermediate high extends from the west towards Switzerland, the snow showers retreat to the eastern northern slope of the Alps and also subside here during the day. The clouds are clearing up.
