National University of La Plata Students Excel at Medical Olympiad and Nutrition Congress

The president of the National University of La Plata, Martín López Armengol, received this followingnoon the students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences who had a notable performance in the VII Academic Olympiad of Medical Students of the Clinical Cycle.

The UNLP students who were awarded belong to the sixth year of the degree and are Marelli Federico who obtained 1st place in General Culture and 10th place in Clinical Case Resolution and Urlezaga, Ainhoa ​​who achieved 2nd place in Clinical Case Resolution .

The competition was organized by the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of Cuyo, and took place between November 10 and 12 in the city of Uspallata, province of Mendoza.

The test consisted of a questionnaire of 60 multiple choice questions, referring to the content of subjects of the Clinical Cycle common to the invited Faculties. 10 optional General Culture questions are asked.

The contents included in the questionnaire corresponded to the following subjects: Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics and Gynecology and Obstetrics.

The Olympics offered students an opportunity for self-assessment upon graduation; promoting the academic and social integration of teachers who represent the participating Universities and made it possible to evaluate the teaching-learning process applied to the training of medical professionals.

Other distinguished medical students

At the XXII Argentine Nutrition Congress, organized by the Argentine Nutrition Society, he won 1st prize. for “Best Work presented in the Conversation – Pre-Congress”, a proposal belonging to students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition at the Faculty of Medicine of the UNLP. Titled “Evaluation of the reformulation of cookies and drinks in La Plata and Greater La Plata, following the application of the Law for the Promotion of Healthy Eating”, the work was prepared by Borrone Franca; Bruno Ginel Agustín; Galván Lucía; Santiago Jury; Reynoso Yanina and Méndez Ignacio.

The 2nd prize for “Best Work presented in the Conversation – Pre-Congress” was for the development titled “Guide for the nutritional approach of the child and adolescent population with type 1 diabetes and celiac disease who attend the Sor María Ludovica Children’s Hospital in the city of La Plata”, whose authors were Goitisolo Lisandro; Monetti Martina Morosi Milagros; Otero Argibay Florencia and Pizzola Daniela.

On the other hand, Dr. Luciana Olmedo was the winner of the 1st prize for the “2023 Research Grant from the Argentine Nutrition Society” with the project “Interaction between genetic variants and dietary variables on biochemical and anthropometric indicators of cardiovascular risk.”
