The driving license at 17 will be made official

From January 2024, a reform awaited for several months will see the light of day: obtaining a driving license at age 17, a measure announced by Elisabeth Borne. At the same time, the points system will also undergo adjustments. Minor speed offenses (less than 5 km/h) will no longer result in by a withdrawal of points, but will remain sanctioned by fines (68 euros above 50 km/h, 135 euros below). To monitor your points balance, a new platform, MesPointsPermis, will be available, replacing Télépoints.

2024 will see an increase in the number of autonomous radars, with 200 new devices planned, recording up to four million flashes per year. On the Paris ring road, six additional radars will be installed in preparation for the Olympic Games. Furthermore, a notable development concerns the automobile insurance sticker: it will disappear on April 1, 2024. Law enforcement will refer to the insured vehicle file (FVA) for checks, thus reducing the financial and ecological impact of the 50 million stickers printed annually.

The price of Superethanol E85 should remain below 1 euro per liter in 2024

The ecological bonus-malus will know early hardening from December 15, 2023. To benefit from the bonus, electric cars must have an environmental score at least 60/100 and cost less than 47,000 euros, excluding models made in China. The scale will be more differentiated according to income, with a bonus of up to 7,000 euros for low-income households. At the same time, the ecological penalty is intensifying: the trigger threshold increases to 118 g/km of CO2 and the maximum penalty will reach 60,000 euros for vehicles emitting more than 193 g/km of CO2.

Good news for motorists: the price of Superethanol E85 should remain below 1 euro per liter in 2024. This price stability is the result of an agreement between ethanol producers and fuel distributors. When it comes to electrification, French manufacturers are taking the lead. Renault will launch its electric R5, entirely manufactured in France, while Citroën will offer its e-C3 city car at a competitive price of 23,300 euros, which is well below the average cost of an electric vehicle.
