Roche announced on Tuesday that its biotechnology subsidiary Genentech had entered into a multi-year collaboration agreement in AI with American chipmaker Nvidia.
The Swiss laboratory explains that this partnership aims to strengthen the efficiency of Genentech’s advanced AI research programs by transforming its models and algorithms into a ‘next generation’ platform.
The objective, ultimately, is to accelerate the discovery of new therapies and new treatments, he explains in a press release.
In detail, the algorithms and machine learning (ML) models developed by Genentech will now be powered by Nvidia DGX Cloud, the large-scale AI supercomputing service.
Genentech will also leverage Nvidia BioNeMo, a solution designed for the deployment of large-scale biomolecular language models, once more enabling the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) to develop new therapies for patients .
In its press release, Roche specifies that Genentech will control its proprietary data and that Nvidia will not have direct access to this data, unless expressly authorized by Genentech during the duration of certain projects.
