The high inflation is not affecting the Austrians’ ordering mood. 351.5 million parcels are expected to be delivered this year, an increase of 8.4 percent year-on-year, the regulatory authority RTR predicted yesterday. In the second quarter, a total of around 94.2 million parcels were transported, 87 million were delivered in Austria and 7.2 million were transported abroad – an increase of twelve percent.
RTR boss Klaus Steinmaurer, who comes from Wels, has also observed an increase in the number of employees as the number of parcels increases. “This year, significantly more leasing staff were employed than in the previous year. Our data series suggest that there will be a short-term hype for leasing staff once more in the fourth quarter of 2023. We are expecting more than 2,000 leasing staff here, which is around 50 percent more than in the first or second quarter of 2023,” said Steinmaurer.
