“We always try to invite musicians from the neighborhood and thus intensify cross-border cultural work,” says Kunsthaus chairman Bernhard Wiesinger. The Czech-Slovakian-Swedish band “Carlsson Kotaca Quartett” was a Alex Reed in Rome the previous week and had its first appearance in Poysdorf.

Trumpeter Jiri Kotaca has known Bernhard Wiesinger for years from a workshop in Brno. The band plays with acoustic instruments and uses electronics to create a very special sound. They combine music from their countries of origin with jazz. Both bandleaders, the Swede Alf Carlson and the Czech Jiri Kotaca, have established themselves in the European jazz scene.

The end of the season in the Kulturhaus will be on Saturday, December 9th, at 7 p.m. with Christian Havel and Remembering Wes. Wes Motgomery, one of the most important guitarists in jazz, died in 1968 and would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year. A 50-minute video presentation regarding the most important stages of his work was put together in his honor.

Ernst Handlos, who lives in the Weinviertel region and is one of the largest Austrian collectors of jazz recordings, and the Viennese guitarist Christian Havel sketch the life of Montgomery with film recordings and traditional anecdotes. Havel then plays compositions by the most important guitarist in jazz history with his quartet. Admission is free – donations requested.
