Their goal: to learn French to better express themselves, communicate and integrate. Classes are given in the Ottavi room on Mondays for advanced levels from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays from 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. for beginners.
This year, the association celebrates its eleventh anniversary. To commemorate this date, the students will bring cakes from their countries by participating in collections for the Telethon on December 1st, during the aperitif scene, in front of the Maison de la Mer.
Talk regarding everything without taboo
The association aims to learn to speak, read and write the French language. Three teachers share the lessons each in their own way: Michèle Pesch, president and founder of the association, Brigitte Mergey and Claude Helbong.
“We also help them with their administrative procedures. But above all, here, we talk regarding everything and without taboos. We learn each other’s culture, we exchange, we teach, but we discover a lot with each culture “, explains Michèle Pesch, the president.
Brigitte Mergey, professor, specifies: “They all come from a different professional world. They are construction workers, catering workers, cleaning workers, but also pharmacy and beauty workers. We also have retirees from other countries who come to settle in Cavalaire. Here, it is truly a space for exchange and happiness. We organize a lot of activities together outside of class so that they can speak and meet French people to be able to practice“.
Open to everyone, even the French
– “I came from Cambodia to join my sister who lives here in Cavalaire. It’s barely been two months since I arrived.” highlight Diya.
– “I’ve been in France for 30 years. I love Michèle’s classes. I learn new things all the time and I always have good friends”, reveals Bouchra, of Moroccan origin.
“It must be said that our association is open to everyone, even to the French. We have already had in the past French people who came to clarify, to revise and improve their grammatical rules, to take competitive exams. All everyone is really welcome “, adds Michèle.
