Patch Tuesday in November gave birth to Windows 11 KB5032190. It fixes security issues and bugs while offering new features. Unfortunately it is also the cause of several failures.
They are of different natures ranging from the disappearance of taskbar icons and performance issues (virtual desktop animation) including an infinite loop error. These concerns are encountered by users who have shared their experience through different channels including Reddit and the Feedback HUB.
Windows 11 et KB5032190
The bug where icons disappear from the taskbar is not really new. It was first mentioned following the release of the Moment 4 update. The problem is known to the software giant behind a solution proposed through the Canary channel. We have no information regarding its availability to the General Public.
Users explain that restarting File Explorer every 30 minutes is necessary because the problem is recurring. It takes the form of an empty icon on the taskbar or an icon that does not correspond to its application. It launches the application from the following icon.
In other cases, KB5032190 causes a significant slowdown in virtual desktop animations or even makes them defective. Transitions are slow, “visual tearing” is visible as well as wallpaper misalignments when switching from one virtual desktop to another. Again this is not a new problem. It first appeared around the time Moment 4 was published.
Finally the installation of KB5032190 may not work. In some cases, the PC enters an infinite boot loop. The system reboots at different percentages of installation progress and Windows rolls back previous changes each time.
