A two-volume commemorative publication for the constitutional and international law expert Gilbert Gornig, edited by Prof. Peter Hilpold and Dr. Christoph Perathoner: With almost 2,000 pages and 78 authors from all over the world, the volume alone expresses the importance of the honoree in the professional world.
This two-volume commemorative publication honors a German legal scholar of international renown: Professor Gilbert Gornig from the University of Marburg. In keeping with its academic focus, this commemorative publication focuses on minority rights. The entire first volume is dedicated to European and international minority law. Leading experts in this field, from Europe and overseas, have contributed contributions that analyze fundamental, current questions in this field.
Central attention is paid to developments in Europe in this regard, but the situation of indigenous peoples and current conflicts such as that surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh are also discussed. The term minority is broadly defined in accordance with the prevailing opinion: not only “traditional” minorities are taken into account, but also the LGBT group, for example.
Professor Gornig’s commitment to the principle of the rule of law was overall formative for his life’s work and ultimately also determined his efforts to make an effective contribution to the protection of minorities.
