BRISBANE ∙ St. Peter and St. Paul’s Malankara Orthodox Church Brisbane (North-West) Parish has concluded an Ecumenical Carol Net organized at Holy Family Catholic Church, Induripilly under the name Nuharo 2023, uniting various Christian churches in the Brisbane region with a message of unity. Eminent personalities, social workers, Sponsors, volunteers, People from various walks of life participated in the function which was attended by parishioners.
Parish Vicar Fr. The event presided over by Shinu Cherian was attended by Penny Wolf representing the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Angela Owen, another councilor and Labor Party representative Shaji Thekeneth as chief guests. There was an outpouring of solidarity and recognition from Brisbane City Council.
And various Christian denominations were represented, Rev. Prem Kumar Cor-Episcopa (Malankara Catholic Church), Fr. Michael Grice (Holy Family Catholic Church), Rev. Eisen Joshua (Marthomma Church), Rev. Stephen Prabhu (Anglican Church), Fr. Ashok (Syro Malabar Catholic Church) and Father Sinu Jacob (Malankara Orthodox Church) participated. In a ceremony that emphasized unity within the Christian community, Fr. Michael Grace (Holy Family Catholic Church Indorepilly) Rev. Iason Joshua (also Marthoma Church Brisbane) was the guest speaker and gave a Christmas message. About 10 choir teams from different temples participated and sang songs.
Other Australian Orthodox parishes that encouraged the Ecumenical Carol Service such as St Thomas Orthodox Cathedral Sydney, St George Orthodox Church Darwin, St Gregorius Orthodox Church Canberra, St Gregory Orthodox Church Gold Coast and St Mary’s Orthodox Parish Sunshine Coast were also gratefully remembered.
Nuhro 2023 was successfully completed due to the collective work of the last few months and the dedication and commitment of the Parish Secretary AB Varghese, Trustee. A special vote of thanks was given by the Parish Vicar.
