Taylor Swift said she was “overwhelmed with grief” Friday night following a fan died during her concert in Brazil as part of her tour The Eras Tour.
“I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it is with a broken heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight, before my concert. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this,” the singer said in an Instagram Story.

“Swiftie” Ana Clara Benevides, aged just 23, was near the railing when she felt unwell due to the heat, Brazilian media Folha reported. The latter would then have suffered a cardiac arrest. After being resuscitated on site, she suffered a second resuscitation – this time fatal – while she was being transported to hospital.
“Last night, Ana Clara did not feel well and was quickly [prise en charge] by the brigade team and paramedics,” the producer of the show in Brazil, Tickets for Fun, mentioned on Instagram on Saturday morning, before offering his condolences to the family and friends of the young woman.
While the city of Rio de Janeiro posted a temperature of 60 degrees on Friday, firefighters said they counted nearly 1,000 fainting people during the show.
“There is very little information that I have, other than the fact that she was incredibly beautiful and much too young,” Taylor Swift emphasized before offering her thoughts to the young fan’s loved ones.
“I’m not going to be able to talk regarding it on stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief whenever I try to talk regarding it,” added the singer.
