ALGIERS- Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Lakhdar Rekhroukh on Saturday in Algiers called on companies and startups to contribute to the development of the railway industry in Algeria, in order to ensure the availability of certain imported materials and equipment.
“The realization of railway projects requires the importation of certain materials and equipment taking into account the specificity of these vital structures,” underlined the minister during a speech read on his behalf by the secretary general of the ministry Mr. Ali Boulerbah, on the occasion of a study day organized by the National Agency for Studies and Monitoring of the Realization of Railway Investments (ANESRIF), under the theme “Railway industry… investment prospects” and this in as part of the activities of the 19th edition of the international public works exhibition.
He indicated that to avoid importation, “Algerian companies including startups with developed skills must be aware of the needs of this industrial sector”.
He also estimated that the arrival of Algerian companies at this stage will allow them to “contribute to the optimization of the development of the railway industry in Algeria”, recalling the technical capacities available to Algerian companies and design offices in the field of public works and basic infrastructure”.
Mr. Rekhroukh affirmed that his ministerial department “will spare no effort” to support startups and innovative project leaders in order to enable them to benefit from the opportunities offered by our institutions to promote their ideas and take advantage of them to resolve the problems facing them. we are facing.
In this context, the minister mentioned the development and modernization program of the railway network, which extends over a length of 4,722 km, expected to reach 6,500 km upon receipt of the project currently being implemented, and 15,000 km upon completion. horizon 2030.
He also underlined that this program comes in application of the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at improving and developing the railway network to open up the interior and southern regions, facilitate the transport of mineral wealth to the north. and relaunch investment projects in the South.
Mr. Rekhroukh also underlined that this exhibition, the closing of which he announced on Saturday, was an opportunity to “establish partnerships and fruitful exchanges which will make it possible to strengthen national capacities in implementation operations on the plans national and regional.
The study day made it possible to review the details of the national program for the development of the railway network and to highlight its importance for economic development, as well as the importance of the cable cars, metro and tram lines available to the Algeria.
As a reminder, the 19th edition of SITP, organized by the Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure in partnership with “Algeria Expo” subsidiary of the National Society of Fairs and Exports (Safex), at the Palais des Expositions des Pins maritimes ( Algiers) from November 14 to 18, saw the participation of more than 230 national and foreign companies, with Turkey as guest of honor.
