A hiker who had been missing since Friday evening might only be found dead on Saturday following a major search operation on the Ötscher (Scheibbs district), a police spokesman said in response to an APA request. The man probably fell while descending the Rauer Kamm. As ORF NÖ reported online, the Czech had lost contact with his two companions due to the bad weather conditions.
An initial search operation was called off around midnight on Friday. On Saturday morning, a large contingent of mountain rescue and Alpine police with dogs continued the search. Helicopters and drones were also used.
