By improving the legislative environment, the state seeks to enhance health care in the field Psychological healthThe Health Care Law approved the formation of regional mental health councils by decision of the Minister responsible for health, and the scope of their work includes one or more of the neighboring governorates, as follows:
-One of the psychiatry consultants or professors in the governorate, chosen by the competent minister of health (chairman).
-One of the heads of the Public Prosecution is chosen by the First Public Prosecutor (vice-president). Members:
– Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the College of Medicine in the governorate, if any, or in the closest governorate to it.
– A representative of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in the governorate with the rank of head of a central administration.
– A representative of the sub-union of the Medical Syndicate. – Director of the Department of Therapeutic Medicine in the governorate.
– Head of the Nursing Department at the Health Affairs Directorate in the governorate.
– One of the social workers working in the field of mental health, chosen by the Director General of Health Affairs in the governorate.
– A representative of civil society organizations concerned with mentally ill patients, chosen by the President of the General Union of Civil Society Associations.
– A public figure interested in human rights chosen by the National Council for Human Rights.
– One of the forensic doctors affiliated with the Ministry of Justice with experience in the field of psychiatry, appointed by the Minister of Justice.
The Regional Council may seek the assistance of whomever it deems experienced and specialized, without having a counted vote in the deliberations. The Regional Council shall appoint a technical secretariat subordinate to it, and the necessary administrative bodies.
