(AFP, Kyiv, 16th) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said today that since the war broke out between Israel and the Palestinian armed group “Hamas” (Hamas) last month, important supplies have been shipped to Ukraine. The number of shells decreased.
Hamas militants launched an unprecedented raid on southern Israel on October 7, and Israel subsequently received US military support to launch an attack on the Gaza Strip.
AFP reported that Zelensky told reporters: “The quantities delivered to us have decreased.” He specifically mentioned the 155 mm artillery shells widely used on the front lines in eastern and southern Ukraine and said: “(The supply) has really slowed down.”
He told reporters that everyone is just fighting for their own ammunition stocks and Ukraine must defend what belongs to itself.
For nearly two years, Russia and Ukraine have been engaged in an intensive exchange of fire with artillery batteries located kilometers apart, as both sides worked to secure their stocks of artillery shells.
South Korea claims that North Korea has delivered 1 million artillery shells to its ally Russia to support Russia’s war in Ukraine in exchange for advice on satellite technology.
Germany said this week that the EU was struggling to secure arms supplies to Ukraine and would miss its goal of supplying 1 million rounds of artillery shells a year.
Zelensky, however, praised U.S. efforts to increase arms production.
Over the past year, Russia and Ukraine have made no significant progress in fighting for territory; the top commander of the Ukrainian army said that the war has reached a stalemate. (Translator: Ji Jinling)
