Just a month ago, Abdesalem Lassoued shot dead two Swedish nationals who were going to the King Baudouin stadium for the match once morest Belgium. The 42-year-old man of Tunisian origin who was staying illegally in Schaerbeek was finally shot dead by the police.

Many questions remain unanswered and the investigation continues. Currently, an individual is under arrest warrant for murder and attempted murder in a terrorist context. This was confirmed by the council chamber recently. “This individual will go to the indictment chamber on November 21,” explains federal prosecutor Eric Van Duyse.

Several other arrests took place in France, Germany and Spain. Most of the time, these were individuals who had received the video sent by Abdesalem Lassoued in which he claimed responsibility for the attack. All were released following hearing, except for one individual of Tunisian origin who is still in pre-trial detention in Paris. Furthermore, the federal prosecutor’s office participated in a meeting with the French national anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office (Pnat) at the end of October. Currently, it is not envisaged that Belgium will request the extradition of the man detained in France.

Finally, the police indicate that they are looking for images from surveillance cameras (GSM, dashcams, doorbell camera or any other image recording) of the terrorist moving around the inner ring of Brussels, mainly in the districts of Yser, the train station du Midi and in Schaerbeek, during the day of Monday October 16 and October 17 until 8:00 a.m.

The police are also calling on people who may have witnessed the events or who may have encountered the perpetrator of the attack between October 16 and 17 to come forward to investigators to be interviewed. Anyone who has these images or who has witnessed an event linked to the attack can contact investigators via the email address [email protected] or the freephone number 0800 30 300.
