The locals might think that he was leaving the Crooner café, with hesitant steps, and that he was still looking for an open establishment to quench his thirst… the Orme? But Aywaille is not le Carré of course. Perhaps he was simply familiarizing himself with the new direction of traffic? Or he was taking his cues for future work that will transform the place in question.
More seriously, this unprecedented encounter is of course explained by the fact that the town of Aywaille is crossed by the Amblève, a river where beavers are found. We also know that the animal is a very territorial species. By generally “flooding” its habitat, it mainly seeks to protect it; in the same logic, we will only find one family in “a territory”. Perhaps this beaver filmed in Aywaille has come straight out of the bed of the Amblève, located a few dozen meters away, in search of a new territory. According to several comments linked to the video, it was also seen in the parking lot of the Aywaille saddlery… It is clear that, if the animal does not run the streets, it likes to stroll in those of Aywaille .
Let us hope in any case that he will not establish his “camp” on the Chalet stream which, the inhabitants know, does not need a new dam to threaten to overflow. Because the beaver is indeed a protected species.
