The SR-C30A is a stereo soundbar from Yamaha. Compact and discreet, it is accompanied by a wireless subwoofer.
Like its little sister (SR-C20A), the Yamaha SR-C30A brings a significant gain in sound quality to any television and is capable of reproducing an immersive sound scene, all in a very compact. All this is unfortunately tarnished by a lack of precision in the treble and an inefficient subwoofer which greatly limits the potential of the whole.
Points forts
Balanced sound reproduction, good vocal presence. Enveloping soundstage, beautiful virtualization of surround effects. Compact design, very good level of finish.
Weak points
Perfectible precision of high frequencies. Poorly performing subwoofer (lack of consistency with the bar, limited maximum sound level). Counterproductive surround virtualization outside of the ideal listening position. No support for DTS streams.
NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude the prices of stores whose the VAT policy is not clear (so-called “gray” stores, typically in the case of imports from China).
An alternative
The Samsung HW-K335 is one of the most affordable soundbars to pass through our test lab, but certainly not one of the worst. Very tight budgets should be able to easily be satisfied with its more than honest sound performance.
