It was actually supposed to be the emotional highlight of the “Beatrice Egli Show”: the duet with the late Udo Jürgens. Now the pop singer has to take severe criticism from fans.

Berlin – The “Beatrice Egli Show” is back – at prime time on Saturday evening. The pop singer’s guest list is once once more top-class. Among others, DJ Ötzi (52), Melissa Naschenweng (33), Howard Carpendale (77) and Christin Stark (34) will be on stage. Udo Jürgens († 80) was also there – at least his voice.

Beatrice Egli revives children’s songs by Udo Jürgens

Udo Jürgens died on December 21, 2014 while taking a walk in Switzerland. The music legend collapsed on the street. Heart failure was diagnosed in the hospital. With a “duet impossible”, an actually impossible duet, Beatrice Egli (35) revives the late pop legend, at least for a short time.

Because Beatrice Egli sings the Jürgens classic “A child is a child”, she is supported by the children’s choir “Friedrichshainer Spatzen” and by Udo Jürgens himself. Because Udo Jürgens’ voice comes from the tape and the music video for the song is in the background to see. An unforgettable TV moment, but one that wasn’t particularly well received by TV viewers.

As soon as Beatrice Egli sings the first notes of “A child is a child” there are the first negative comments online. “Rest in peace is not taken seriously when it comes to deceased celebrities. “Everything that is possible is exploited,” said an angry X user (formerly Twitter). “Udo can no longer defend himself,” writes another user. Another TV viewer writes: “Udo Jürgens cannot be compared with all the hit fuzzies. He was brilliant.” This fan asks: “Do all the presenters always have to sing along? Silberblick, Zarella, Ina Müller always sing along.”

But THE goosebump moment of the “Beatrice Egli Show” is caused by something completely different. Pop legend Peggy March sings the ballad “Don’t worry Darling” for her late husband, moving her fans to tears. Sources used: ARD/The Beatrice Egli Show from November 11th
