Gyeonggi-do industrial complex solar power development and renewable energy supply to Samchun Electronics

[일렉트릭파워] Korea Midland Power Company and Enel X Korea decided to cooperate with Gyeonggi Province and Samsung Electronics to develop solar power in the Gyeonggi Industrial Complex.
On November 16, the Korea Midland Power Consortium signed a business agreement with Gyeonggi Province and Samsung Electronics to achieve corporate RE100.
This agreement is the first outcome of the Gyeonggi Industrial Complex RE100 project promoted by Gyeonggi Province. It was promoted to expand the supply of renewable energy by utilizing roofs and idle land in the Pyeongtaek Industrial Complex and to support the implementation of RE100 by companies in Gyeonggi Province, such as Samsung Electronics.
With this agreement, Gyeonggi Province decided to support site discovery and rapid licensing, including holding on-site information sessions for companies moving into industrial complexes. Samsung Electronics is responsible for purchasing renewable energy produced through the RE100 project, and the Korea Midland Power Consortium plans to cooperate in site discovery for companies residing in industrial complexes, installation of renewable energy facilities, electricity production, and procurement and support of renewable energy for Samsung Electronics.
The Korea Midland Power Consortium, which participated in today’s agreement, is pursuing a 90MW industrial complex rooftop solar power project. Among these, the company plans to supply 45MW solar power facilities in the Pyeongtaek area and sell renewable energy to Samsung Electronics for 20 years.
Kim Ho-bin, CEO of Korea Midland Power Company, said, “We will fulfill our role as a public power generation company by creating various win-win models to not only supply renewable energy through solar power business development in industrial complexes but also to implement RE100 for domestic companies.”
Meanwhile, KOMIPO is operating and constructing a 10MW solar power facility using the roofs of Enel X Korea and 15 small and medium-sized companies. On November 9, we are actively working to develop solar power business in industrial complexes, including signing an agreement with the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation for solar power business.
