Bosko Balaban shone in the ranks of Club Brugge between 2004 and 2007, having scored 58 goals for his team during this period. The former Croatian international has recently been in the news as he faces a prison sentence.

Indeed, the former footballer was sentenced in 2021 by a court in Zagreb following numerous unpaid bills. Bosko Balaban thus owed 80,000 euros in alimony for his three children, since his divorce from Iva Radic.

The former footballer then agreed to pay his debt over two years but he did not respect his commitment. This is why the Croatian police decided to put the former international in irons for a year, from January 2024. He might also receive an additional four years of suspended sentence.

At the time, he justified himself by mentioning his low income since he retired. This was without taking into account his job as a real estate agent as well as the properties he owns in Zagreb, Rijeka and the Istrian Peninsula. After his divorce, the player transferred all his assets to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
