In parallel with the competition, the Open Paratennis du Loiret (November 15-19) will carry out disability awareness activities with nearly 600 children.

A major disabled sports competition, with a role of education and awareness. For several years, the Loiret Open Paratennis has established itself as one of the great moments of the year for French parasport. From Wednesday November 15 to Sunday November 19, near Orléans, the Fleury-les-Aubrais forest complex finds the champions, but not only that. During the five days of competition, the Open will also host a disability awareness project.

Nearly 600 students involved

During the five days of competition, the organizers will host seven to eight classes per half-day on this project. This represents almost 600 children in total, double the number of students involved last year. Alongside the games played by some of the best players in the world, they will have the opportunity to discover paratennis. Starting with the handling of the chair, and all that this implies in this very technical and demanding sport. A way to raise awareness through the practice of sport, at the heart of a major international event.

Awareness and exchanges

To carry out this project, the Open Paratennis du Loiret is joining forces with the USEP du Loiret and Formasat. “During these educational outings, children will be able to discover the wheelchair and its handling through simulated sporting activities. Time for discussion and sharing with a tournament player is planned to answer students’ questions regarding disability sport and the daily life of a person with a disability. », add the organizers in a press release. The students will face para-athletes who are among the best in the world in their discipline. It should be noted that young people from the Neuville Medical-Educational Institute (IME), with disabilities, will join the team of ball collectors who will officiate during the tournament.
