O Instagram announced today that it is expanding Close Friends (Close Friends), previously restricted to Stories, for photos and videos published on Feed it is us Reels.
The process is uncomplicated: before sharing a photo or video, just tap “Public” and choose the Close Friends list. When the post appears, it will have a green star to highlight it, just like Stories do.
It is important to note that the Close Friends list will be the same, regardless of whether the user is sharing Stories, Reels, Feed or Notes. However, likes and comments on Feed posts will be visible to other group members.

The expansion comes at a curious time, as a similar feature in X (formerly Twitter) has been discontinued. With the success of apps that “value authenticity”, such as BeRealInstagram aims to offer more options that bring this experience.
We already know that our community uses [os] Friends Close as a pressure-free space to connect with the people who matter most. We hope this opens up more ways to be yourself on Instagram by having more control over who sees your content.
A few weeks ago, it’s worth remembering, the platform announced that it was exploring other ways to allow everyone to share content with smaller audiences.
