2025 Toyota Crown Signia: A Prestigious Addition to Toyota’s SUV Line-Up

Los Angeles, California – The 2025 Toyota Crown Signia made its official debut this evening, with the automaker confirming a second Crown model for North America, following the Crown sedan introduced last year. The Signia is expected to debut on our continent next year.

In a range of SUVs that already includes the RAV4, Venza and Highlander, not to mention the small Corolla Cross and the big Grand Highlander, one might wonder what place is reserved for the new Crown Signia. What audience is this model targeting, without cannibalizing the sales of its brothers and sisters?

In fact, a Toyota representative confirmed to Auto123 that the rumors regarding the withdrawal of the Venza were accurate. In Canada and the United States, the Venza will be retired following the 2024 model year.

Which explains several things. Certainly, the approach with the Crown Signia seems no different to that taken with the Venza, with both models highlighting hybridity and premium style and comfort as key selling points. We can imagine the Crown line as the prestige branch of the current Toyota family.

In terms of design, we’re talking regarding a less boxy shape than the RAV4 – looking at the images, you might almost see the Crown Signia as a wagon, but a leggy wagon. Its stance is wide and the model rests on 21-inch rims. The SUV is characterized by Toyota’s hammerhead-shaped front fascia, with distinctive daytime running lights and headlights. Above and towards the rear, the long roofline helps create that quasi-family feel.

Exterior color options include Storm Cloud, Oxygen White and Black, as well as a two-tone pattern that pairs a black roof with either Finish Line Red, Bronze Age, Storm Cloud or Oxygen White. Whichever you choose, it can be matched with a Saddle Tan or Black interior.

Cyril Dimitris, Vice President of Toyota Canada, explains: “We are delighted to expand the legendary Toyota Crown from a single model to a family of prestigious electrified vehicles…The Crown Signia builds on all the best attributes of the Crown by adding more functionality and versatility, making it an ideal partner for active Canadians seeking the performance, convenience and quality of a premium Toyota vehicle.”

Hybridity
Like the Venza, the Crown Signia will be exclusively equipped with a hybrid powertrain. So the combined fuel consumption provided by Toyota is impressive: 6.5 liters per 100 km. The model is equipped as standard with all-wheel drive (electronic on demand), with an electric motor on the rear axle, and the output of the hybrid powertrain is 243 horsepower. Towing capacity is 2,700 pounds.

The Canadian market only receives one version, the Crown Signia Limited. This model features textured leather-trimmed seats, bronze-colored accents here and there, and color-keyed surfaces on the dashboard and doors. The lower part of the center console incorporates a vertical slot for wireless charging of smartphones and storage space. The dashboard features a full-color driving instrument cluster and, to its right, a 12.3-inch floating infotainment touchscreen.

For now, Toyota is content to say that the Crown Signia will arrive at Toyota dealerships in Canada in summer 2024. No word yet on the price.
