Fito Páez, María Becerra, Bizarrap, Nicki Nicole and Dante Spinetta, the most nominated Argentine artists at the Latin Grammy 2023
This Thursday, November 16, the 24th Latin Grammy Awards will be held, which will crown the best of Latin American music that was produced between 2022 and 2023. This year’s ceremony will have a great feature that makes it stand out from all that have been done up to this moment: for the first time in history it will be held outside the United States and will take place in the Palace of Congresses and Exhibitions in the city of Seville, Spain.
Another novelty presented by this year’s awards is that new categories have been added: Composer of the Year, Best Singer-Songwriter Song and Best Urban Performance in the Portuguese Language. The artist with the most nominations is the Mexican Edgar Barrera, with presence in 13 categories. Then, with seven nominations each, Camilo, Kevyn Mauricio Cruz Moreno, Karol G and Shakira follow.
Argentine music will be present and very well represented by artists of all kinds. The most nominated is Bizarrap, the golden boy of Argentine music in recent years, who appears in six categories: three for the hit “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” (Recording of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Song pop), two for Best Urban Fusion/Performance and Best Urban Song (both for “Quevedo: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52″) and another in the Producer of the Year category, one of the most valuable.
María Becerra follows in the count, with four: Song of the Year (“Amigos”, with Pablo Alborán), Best Urban Fusion/Performance (for “ojala”), Best Urban Song (“Automático”) and Best Reggaeton Performance (“ Automatic”).
Meanwhile, there are several who have two nominations. They are Dante Spinetta (Best Alternative Music Album for Mesa dulce and Best Alternative Song, for “The Dark Side of the Heart”), Babasónico (Best Pop/Rock Album and Best Packaging Design, both for the album Trinchera Avanzada) and Nicki Nicole (Best Urban Music Album for Alma and Best Rap / Hip Hop Song for “Dispara”, with Milo J).

On the other hand, Roxana Amed will compete in Best Latin Jazz/Jazz Album with Unanime; Miranda! It will go with the Hotel Miranda of it! as Best Packaging Design; Nico Cotton as Producer of the Year; Everything Appears Normal in Best Rock Song (“The Floor is Lava”); Eruca Sativa and ANIMAL competing for Best Rock Album; You Señalemelo and León Gieco compete in Best Pop/rock album; Nathy Peluso and Wos in Best Short Version Music Video (they compete with “You are very good” and “Descartable”, respectively) and Fito Páez, who goes for the top prize in the Album of the Year category (with EADDA9223, the remake of El amor siempre of love).
There is also a great Argentine presence in the Best Tango Album category, where Portrait of the Air, by Pablo Jaurena, competes; Operation Tango, by the Astor Piazzolla Quintet; Reencuentro, by Susana Rinaldi & Osvaldo Piro; Now Romo of the Agri Messiez Tango Trio; and Argentinxs, from Tanghetto.
Babasónico competes in two categories of the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards
As in every Latin Grammy gala, live music will have its prominent place. And among the presentations of artists such as Rosalía, Maluma, Shakira, Sebastián Yatra, Andrea Bocelli, DJ Premier, Pablo Alborán, Rauw Alejandro, Eslabón Armado, Édgar Barrera, Camilo, Manuel Carrasco, Feid, Kany García, Iza, Juanes, Carin León , Christian Nodal, Ozuna, Peso Pluma, Alejandro Sanz, Borja, Natascha Falcão, GALE, Paola Guanche, Joaquina, Leon Leiden and Laura Pausini, artists from Argentina will also perform. As it is, the appearances of Bizarrap, María Becerra and Milo J are scheduled.
The Latin Grammy 2023 will be held next Thursday, November 16 at the Palace of Congresses and Exhibitions in Seville, Spain. In Argentina they can be seen from 9 p.m. through the TNT and HBO Max signals, which at the same time transmit to the rest of Latin America.
At the 2022 awards ceremony, Fito Páez had been the most winning Argentine artist of the night. From the ceremony held in Las Vegas he left with the three awards for which he had been nominated: Best pop-rock album, for The Wild Years; Best rock song, for “The best of our lives” and Best pop/rock song for “Babel” (recorded with Carlos Vives).
