An excess of methamphetamine or fentanyl, and Perry’s death certificate states the official cause of death as “deferred,” with initial autopsy results coming inconclusive for the cause of death.

Edwards told The Sun: “There are a lot of things that are not clear to me, as I don’t think he drowned in his Jacuzzi. That doesn’t seem right. I know Matthew and I know he wouldn’t have drowned, but I think he probably took pills a week.” Which preceded his death, and I know very well that they confirmed that there were no pills at the scene of the accident, which does not surprise me, because he does not leave drugs anywhere.”

Edwards continued: “Perry was paranoid and it is possible that he took a large dose of pills at once, and then went out to get more when he wanted, so they will not find any remains and I expect the final death report will come out that he died by overdose.”

Edwards noted Perry’s use of the nickname “Mattman” in his last social media post before his death, explaining: “This was not something Mattman would do when he was sober, where Mattman would come out when he wasn’t sober and feel invincible.”

“I was there when Perry was getting high, and when I would say maybe he should cut back on his drug use, Perry would say, ‘No, I’m Mattman,'” Edwards concluded.
