Moments before meeting with his teammates from the Colombian National Team, forward Luis Díaz was reunited with his family following the kidnapping of his father, Luis Manuel Díaz, who was released by the ELN on November 9 following having him in their possession following more than 10 days.

The emotional meeting was accompanied by tears of happiness on the part of the player and his father who hugged each other the moment they saw each other for the first time following 13 days of captivity of “Mane”, as he is known in Barrancas, La Guajira.

Photos of the meeting were shared from the official X account of the Colombian National Team under the message: “we love you and we are more united than ever.”

The video of the rescue of “Mane” Díaz went around the sports world. National and international media recorded the Liverpool footballer’s father descending from a helicopter and in good health.

Wearing a blue cap, a gray t-shirt and a brown jacket, Mane Díaz raised his right arm in victory. In his other hand he carried a bottle of serum as he walked towards the UN vans in which he will be transferred to a health center to carry out medical check-ups and confirm his condition following more than a week in captivity.

The footballer, in the midst of uncertainty, had requested in a statement the immediate release of his father. He even scored a goal in a game and as a sign of celebration he showed a t-shirt alluding to the kidnapping with the message “freedom for dad.”
