On October 11, Glenn, a 26-year-old Belgian, was the victim of a serious accident at his workplace. The young worker at the Van Hool bus manufacturer in Lier was seriously burned while working in a tank and was left in an artificial coma.

In recent weeks, his condition has remained critical. Unfortunately, precisely one month following his accident, the young resident of Herenthout died.
“When we arrived at the emergency room, we quickly understood that it was serious,” the victim’s father explained to Nieuwsblad. “At the clinic, they had never seen a victim still alive in this state.”
Bjorn suffered third-degree burns over a large part of his body. Despite this, his loved ones never lost hope, until the night from Friday to Saturday: “Even if he had survived, his life would never have been the same…”.

Glenn and his partner lived together and had lots of plans, according to those close to them. “The last time we saw each other, the day before the tragedy, we went to eat fries. He told us he was fed up with his job at Van Hool and we were looking for another opportunity.”
A final goodbye to the young man is planned for this Thursday.
The labor prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation.
