On the other hand, for electricity, Octa + is cheaper, with a price of €145.37, slightly ahead of Mega (€148.82). We also observe a large price difference between the best variable rate and the best fixed rate. For gas, fixed and variable combined, Elegant offers the best offer, at €108.28, a clear difference compared to the fixed prices of Mega (€129.01) and Octa + (€149.64) . Opting for security always has a significant cost, but faced with soaring prices at the height of the crisis, the price gap may disappear. In total, under a fixed contract, by opting for Mega (gas) and Octa + (electricity), our family’s annual savings can amount to €247.56.

For its annual gas consumption, it is once once more Mega which offers the most attractive offer, with a price of €270.83 per month. In electricity, Octa + wins, with an offer of €218.27. If, for electricity, Mega does not raise the bill too much, with a monthly rate of €225.46 (€7.19 more per month than Octa +), opting for the two contracts with this supplier will cost you €86.28 more at the end of the year.
For its part, Octa + is heavily penalized by the price proposed for the gas contract, with a monthly bill of €305.89. Combining your two contracts with this supplier therefore significantly increases the bill, with a monthly difference of €35.06, or €420.72 over one year.

Note also that if you opt for a variable contract, Octa + offers the best offer, with a price of €189.78/month for electricity. On the gas side, Elegant offers the lowest rate, i.e. €227.19/month. The difference with the best fixed contracts is once once more significant, since it amounts to €865.56.
Choosing between fixed and variable remains a question that no one can answer with the assurance of making the best choice. However, if the landline remains (much) more expensive, it still offers the guarantee of knowing how much the consumer will pay. On the other hand, the variable contract is subject to changes in wholesale prices. For now, it remains more advantageous, but if the price explodes like last year, the consumer will be protected and will not see their bill skyrocket.
