Double Murder and Suicide in Denderhoutem, East Flanders: Latest Updates and Investigations

The 54-year-old woman who was stabbed to death with her 22-year-old son in Denderhoutem, East Flanders, filed a complaint on Friday morning for harassment once morest her husband. The latter was questioned for a long time and received an injunction not to have contact but was left free, indicates the East Flanders public prosecutor’s office, which had “no indication that he might have committed such acts”.

The bodies were found in a house on Borrekent Street. The public prosecutor’s office opened an investigation and went to the site with a doctor, the laboratory and a team from the federal judicial police.

The suspect, aged 51, is the woman’s husband and the father-in-law of her son. It is searched.

His car was found near the Dendre in Aalst and witnesses saw a person jump into the water on Saturday evening.

An unidentified body found in the Scheldt

The body of an unidentified man was taken out of the Scheldt on Sunday followingnoon in Hamme (East Flanders), we learned from the public prosecutor’s office. The circumstances of his death have not yet been established and a forensic doctor has been requested.

The suspect in the double murder in Denderhoutem is likely to have ended his life by throwing himself into the Dender in Aalst, but nothing yet indicates that the body recovered in Hamme is this man.
