Thursday, November 9, the Envie de Jazz association presented the program for the next edition of the Fi’Jazz festival to teams of volunteers, patrons and representatives of the region, including Hélène Lacipière, vice-president of Grand Figeac in charge of the culture and heritage, and Vincent Labarthe, president of Grand Figeac and vice-president of the Occitanie region. A most exciting program, which will take place from May 8 to 11. “The second edition of the festival was able to attract twice as many spectators as the first, so we are in a growth phase that we intend to build on!” declared with humor Philippe Atrous, president of the festival.
The 2023 edition has indeed remained engraved in memories, with packed rooms, exuberant and high-flying jams and a golden lineup. The 2024 edition should not be unworthy: musicians of international stature, such as the drummer-composer Anne Paceo or the Rémi Panossian trio will be there. Tristan Mélia, pianist of the new generation, will open the festival in the auditorium.
We will also discover during this Fi’Jazz 2024 the Chocho Cannelle quartet, where Camille Heim’s electro llanera harp takes the place of bass; the hip-hop jazz of the talented troublemakers of Sampling is beautiful, the gypsy jazz of the Joshua Perez Trio but also the Charlotte Planchou Quartet, which according to JazzMagazine and Jazz News, is among the “ten artists to follow in 2023”.
The street is not forgotten, with the New Orleans jazz funk of the brass band Fanflure… and a plethora of surprise jam sessions. “We broke the bank, but it’s worth it!” says Sandy Atrous, treasurer of Envie de Jazz, with a smile, before thanking everyone who supports this highly anticipated event.
