Zheng Mingming, a member in charge of the Nanyin singing and pipa parts, told reporters that at the beginning of the arrangement, when considering which Nanyin piece to combine “Wulin” with, they were inspired by the unique architectural complex of Wulin, a hometown of overseas Chinese. Therefore, closely following the “ancient house” element, the band chose excerpts from “A Thatched House” to combine it, making the feelings of returning home and homesickness in the song more prominent.
The original song of “Wulin” was produced by the Propaganda Department of the Jinjiang Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. Shen Yijie, who participated in the recording of the original song of “Wulin”, said bluntly that he very much hopes that the re-arranged song can bring people a new feeling. It is worth mentioning that another song in the program – “Silk Road Escape” improvised by Chinese music master Feng Mantian and Colombian performers, was filmed and recorded at Jinshawan, Weitou Village, Jinjing.
