England’s football champions Manchester City missed the chance to extend their lead in the Premier League and drew for the first time this season. At Chelsea on Sunday, the “Citizens” drew 4:4 (2:2) in a spectacular game, with Erling Haaland scoring twice. Man City leads the table with 28 points, one point ahead of second Liverpool and third Arsenal. Liverpool had previously beaten Brentford 3-0 (1-0).

At Stamford Bridge, Haaland initially gave ManCity the lead in the 25th minute with a penalty kick. Shortly followingwards, Thiago Silva (29th) equalized for the hosts. Former City striker Raheem Sterling (37th) made it 2-1 for Chelsea before Manuel Akanji (45th+1) equalized for Guardiola’s team. The score was 2-2 going into the half-time break.

Immediately following the restart, Haaland scored once more (47th). The wild exchange of blows between the two teams continued. After Nicolas Jackson’s equalizer (67th), both teams played for victory. Chelsea goalscorer Silva deflected a shot from Manchester’s Rodri (86th) past his goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. But Chelsea’s Cole Palmer (95th), who came from Man City’s youth team, put the final point with his converted penalty to make it 4-4.

In Liverpool’s sixth home win in a row this season, Egyptian star striker Mohamed Salah (39th, 62nd) scored twice for the Reds and thus reached the mark of 200 goals in English football. Diogo Jota (74th) made the decision. Liverpool had previously been unlucky on several occasions. Two goals from Darwin Nunez were disallowed for being offside.
