While players are fully immersed in Modern Warfare 3, a packet loss issue has started to appear. But fear not, there are various steps you can take to address and potentially eliminate this issue in MW3.
Packet loss is a form of server error that can cause visual and gameplay issues such as lag and stuttering. Symptoms of packet loss may be obvious to the player, but a key indicator can often be seen on screen.
Three superimposed squares on the left side of the screen indicate that you are experiencing packet loss. The squares may also be accompanied by actual text saying “packet loss” to confirm the problem.

In order to fix this issue, here are a few ways players can try to mitigate the packet loss they experience while playing MW3.

One of the simplest ways to resolve lag is to restart the platform you are connected to. By restarting your computer, Xbox or PlayStation, this gives MW3 a chance to reset. However, if the problem persists, there are other simple solutions that can help.

Six Ways to Fix Packet Loss Problem:
Restart MW3 – Close the game and restart it to reset the servers, ensuring a fresh connection and resolving the packet loss error.
Refresh Wi-Fi – Exit MW3 to access the main menu, then locate the reset button on your Wi-Fi router.
Disable Crossplay – On PlayStation 4/5, navigate to MW Settings, select “Account & Network”, and turn off crossplay in the “Online” tab. On Xbox One and Series participate in multiplayer games”. Note that PC does not support disabling crossplay.
Disable showing textures on demand – On consoles, go to your Settings, scroll down to Graphics, and turn off “Texture display on demand”.
Switch to Ethernet – While your Wi-Fi router is on, connect an Ethernet cable between the router and your gaming rig for a more stable connection.
Ask for help – If the problems persist, contact the Support Activision via their website for additional support.
