Sharjah: A pavilion at the Sharjah International Book Fair featuring works related to Mappilapat. A section in the pavilion at the fair of Kairali Books has been set aside for Mappilapats. Next year, a special pavilion will be prepared for Mappilapatts and related compositions.
Many books related to Mappilapat including the complete writings of Moinkutty Vaidya are arranged here. Countless works regarding departed Mappilapat talents are also a part of this. MK Muneer MLA said that this initiative will be very beneficial to convince non-residents regarding the history of Mappilapat.
Mappilapat researcher Faisal Elate responded that it was a great achievement to be able to display the vestiges of a rich culture in a world-class fair.
In the next Mela, the expatriate talents who love this genre of music are preparing to start an extensive pavilion with more compositions and historical documents related to Mappilapat. Every night the singers would gather and sing mappilapats. This gives a unique experience to the fair.
Bashir’s ‘walls’ in Arabic
Vaikom Muhammad Basheer’s ‘Mathalim’ released in Arabic. The book was translated into Arabic by Malayali Muhammad Shabib Wafi under the name of ‘Al Jadran’. UAE poet Shihab Ghanim launched his book at the Sharjah Book Festival.
‘Whose 21st Century Belongs’
The English version of Mansoor Pallur’s book Whose 21st Century Belongs was released at the Sharjah International Book Fair. Isaac John Pattaniparam, handed over to M Liju and performed the release. Sharjah Indian Association President YA Rahim, writer Dr. Dhanalakshmi, Sajid Arat Puzha and Pratapan Thayat spoke.
