Now we do: we already know the protagonists of the 2024 Grammy Awards. And this Friday, November 10, the names of the nominees for the famous awards celebrated by the National Academy of Arts and Sciences of the United States Recording. Of course, we will have to wait until February 4, 2024 to find out the winners. The event will be held one more year at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. This is the 21st time they have been held in this place.
This year the Academy has decided to reduce the nominees in the main categories – Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year – from ten to eight. But who have been the nominees of this new edition?
The most nominated artists
This year the stars of the Grammys are them. Female voices stand out in almost all major categories. In fact, in song of the year we only find one song performed by a man, Butterfly by Jon Batiste. Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish will fight to get the famous golden gramophone. In fact, these seven artists are the ones that are repeated the most in the categories. Taylor Swift, SZA and Olivia Rodrigo being the most nominated thanks to their albums Midnights, SOS and GUTS.
With the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, Taylor Swift breaks new records. She becomes the most nominated artist in history in the best song of the year category thanks to Anti-Hero. She also ties Barbra Streissand as the artist most nominated for Best Album at the awards. Both stars have six nominated albums in her career. The strong thing regarding this matter is that if Taylor wins this award once more she will be the first person to win this category four times.
We have to highlight the Barbie soundtrack. The famous film has added several nominations (even in the main categories) thanks to What Was I Made For by Billie Eilish and Dance The Night by Dua Lipa.
Nominated Spaniards
And this year we are in luck! And we might bring a Grammy to Spain. Pablo Alborán has been nominated for Best Latin Album for La Cuarta Hoja. He will have a difficult time because he competes with such heavyweights as Pedro Capó or Maluma. But I hope the man from Malaga takes it!
