Friday evening was mourned by a macabre discovery in Mons where Fred was found lifeless in the old Belgacom buildings. The day following this sad news, it is time for tributes. The “Solidarité sdf” association particularly had strong words for Fred, whom it describes as a nice, kind man who didn’t make a fuss.
After experiencing difficult years, Fred managed to get out of the street world thanks to help from the City of Mons and, above all, thanks to the actions of volunteers from the “Solidaire sdf” association. “Fred is a former gentleman from the street who managed to get by. He was then able to find accommodation in Borinage where he spent his daily life with his dog, Luna. Despite his new life, he continued to come and say hello to his street friends with whom he maintained good contact,” confides Nadia Dupont, member of the non-profit organization “Solidarité sdf”.
The macabre discovery was made this Friday
While traveling in Croatia, Nadia did not expect to receive such bad news even though she knew that Fred had contracted some health problems. “We never really come out of the street world unscathed. Between addictions and lack of food, this daily life often leaves its mark. Despite everything, he seemed to have recovered when I saw him recently,” she explains.
By paying tribute to him, Nadia Dupont above all wanted us to remember Fred as a kind and nice man who had notably participated in the campaign for the SDF solidarity association in 2015. “According to rumors from the street world, Fred died of cardiac arrest. It is important to pay tribute to him, he was a really nice person,” concludes Nadia Dupont.
Nadia who also shares her pain with many other members of the “Solidarité sdf” association who have good memories of Fred.
