The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) made an urgent call this Friday to respect health facilities in the Gaza Strip.

This is what the international organization did following the latest bombings that have affected hospitals, as it has warned that the lives of thousands of people affected by the war are at stake.
“The destruction that is affecting hospitals in Gaza is becoming unsustainable and must stop,” stressed the head of the ICRC sub-delegation in Gaza, William Schomburg.
In that sense, he stated that “the lives of thousands of civilians, patients and medical personnel are in danger.”
Likewise, in a statement, the organization has stressed that the health system in Gaza is reaching a point of no return. For this reason, he has reported that the Al Nasser children’s hospital has been seriously affected, while the Al Rantisi hospital is not operational.
As for the Al Shifa hospital, the largest in the Gaza Strip, it has been noted that in addition to an excess of patients, it also hosts thousands of people displaced by the Israeli bombings.
For all this, he warns that “any military operation around hospitals must consider the presence of civilians, who are protected by International Humanitarian Law” and remembers that “attacks once morest medical facilities and personnel represent a severe setback for the already already weakened health system” in that area of the Middle East.
“The ICRC urgently calls for the immediate protection of all civilians, including humanitarian workers and medical personnel,” the organization has claimed, stressing that “this protection is not only a legal obligation, but a moral imperative to preserve human lives in these terrible moments.”
