CZ and Zilveren Kruis are increasing the monthly premium for their most popular basic insurance policies. VGZ and Menzis previously announced premium increases. According to the two largest health insurers, with a combined nine million customers, costs continue to rise due to wage increases and because we use more and more care.

At Zilveren Kruis, the premium for the most popular basic insurance will increase from 138.95 to 147.45 euros per month. The slightly more expensive health insurance with more free choice of healthcare providers will become 9 euros more expensive: from 152.75 to 161.75 euros per month.

At CZ the new health insurance premium is 145.85 euros per month, an increase of 7.60 euros. In recent years, the insurer has often used reserves to keep premium increases limited, but CZ has not succeeded this time.

Nieuwe zorgpremies

Uiterlijk 12 november komen zorgverzekeraars met hun nieuwe premie voor 2024. Hier staan de nieuwe zorgpremies van VGZ, Menzis, DSW en Zorg en Zekerheid. Tot de jaarwisseling heb je de tijd om je zorgverzekering op te zeggen en tot 31 januari kun je een nieuwe afsluiten.

In addition to rising costs, we are faced with an acute staff shortage in healthcare.”

Many healthcare workers have received pay increases of 5 to 10 percent this year. “Healthcare workers are valuable and they deserve fair remuneration, but this must ultimately also be paid from the premium,” says Joep de Groot, chairman of CZ. He also says that the consequences of aging are becoming increasingly visible.

Change to keep healthcare affordable

Health insurers believe that something needs to change to keep healthcare affordable in the future. “We believe that this is possible. We are working hard on plans per region with healthcare providers, patient organizations and municipalities,” says Fijneman.

“We also look at how we can solve things without care. People do not always need care if they do not feel healthy. If you have sleeping problems due to debts, the solution lies outside care.”

According to Fijneman, it is important to realize that we can prevent some of the care if we live a healthier life. “Only together can we keep healthcare future-proof.”
