Gianni Moscon Joins Soudal Quick-Step: A New Chapter in His Career

Belgian team Soudal Quick-Step holds its 27th rider (the minimum number for a WorldTour team) in anticipation of next season: the Italian Gianni Moscon29, will try to relaunch his career under the orders of Patrick Lefevere following two complicated seasons at Astana, where he was at the end of his contract.

Promised for a very bright future when he turned professional at Sky in 2016 (he spent 6 years with the British team), Gianni Moscon has stood out more in recent years for his escapades than for his results (he has 11 victories, including the Tour of Tuscany and the Coppa Agostini in 2018).

Nicknamed “Il Trattore” (“The Tractor”, like “El Tractor” Tim Declercqwho has just left the Belgian team) because of the work he is capable of providing in racing and his love for the agricultural environment, Gianni Moscon seems destined for a role of luxury teammate on the Flandriennes and, without doubt, on stage races.

I am very happy to join Soudal Quick-Step, it is one of the best teams in the worlddetails Gianni Moscon in the Belgian team’s press release. When I turned pro, one of my goals was to race for this team one day. And achieving this goal following two difficult years means a lot to me, I want to thank everyone here who decided to put their trust in me. I love the Classics, and I can’t wait to take part in them with this group. I will always give my best, and I will focus on what I do on the bike.

Gianni is very talented, we have known him for a long time, when he was still an amateur, explains Patrick Lefevere, CEO of Soudal Quick-Step. He is a major asset for our team ahead of next season, and we are convinced that he will be able to show us great things in 2024.
