LANSING, Mich. —
Michigan’s presidential primary is changing in 2024.
Effective 91 days following the state Legislature adjourns for 2023, Michigan’s presidential primary is set to move to Feb. 27, 2024, according to an amended excerpt from Michigan’s Election Law.
The last time Michigan held a primary in February was on Feb. 28, 2012, according to the State of Michigan.
For every election therefollowing, the state’s primary was held in March.
In addition to next year’s change, Michigan’s presidential primary will be held on the fourth Tuesday in February for each presidential election moving forward, the legislation showed.
Across the country, the earliest voters can cast their ballots is Jan. 15 in Iowa, a list provided by the conference showed.
For the other 46 states, elections are set to be held as early as March and as late as August.
