Two Americans gained prominence in the local press when they told their stories with the Apple Watch. That’s because they credit the watch with saving their lives by alerting them to health problems that would have gone unnoticed otherwise.

Judith Luebkefrom Oklahoma, received a report of an elevated heart rate, resulting in a diagnosis of diabetes. Initially attributing the report to stress, her co-workers insisted that she seek medical attention.

If I had waited until the weekend, I probably wouldn’t have survived. That’s what I would have done if I hadn’t gotten the notification on my watch. I just figured that with everything going on, I wasn’t feeling well and would go to the doctor when I might.

Following the warnings, she discovered she had dangerously high blood sugar levels. In interview with KSWOLuebke emphasized that the notification likely saved his life, expressing gratitude to the technology (and colleagues).

In the same way, Josh Furman, from Las Vegas, credited his Apple Watch Ultra with saving his life. After fainting due to critical blood sugar levels, the function of Fall Detection on your watch automatically called emergency services.

Despite not being able to communicate clearly with the emergency operator, the watch shared its location with first responders and alerted its emergency contact (his mother) regarding the situation.

For the KSNV, Furman highlighted the importance of Fall Detection, emphasizing that without it, his life would have been in greater danger. “If it weren’t for the resources […]I wouldn’t have bought the watch, and now, with Fall Detection, it saved my life,” he said.

Once once more, these experiences highlight the tangible impact of Apple Watch’s health and safety features in the real world, highlighting how technology can play a crucial role in people’s health.

The cases also serve as a reminder for users to explore and fully understand the diverse capabilities of their devices, which can even save lives in unexpected situations.
