Metaller-KV: 5th round unsuccessful, negotiations will continue on Monday

After the interruption, the employers tried to emphasize the constructive basis of the discussion, saying that they had become closer, but no details were given.

“We took the first steps forward today. But since our positions are still different, we have postponed the negotiations until Monday,” said trade association chairman Christian Knill on Thursday evening.

Strikes appear to be off the table for the time being for the approximately 120,000 employees in the metalworking industry. At the beginning of the week there were warning strikes on three days, each lasting around three hours, in numerous companies in the metal industry. The employees had recently insisted on an increase in wages and salaries of 11.6 percent. They point to the past annual inflation of 9.6 percent.

There was no collective bargaining agreement today in the trade for the almost 450 employees; the second round ended without results following a few hours.
