DENVER (AP) — Still exhausted, Nikola Jokic scored 35 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in more than 36 minutes of action, leading the Denver Nuggets to a 108-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.
Reggie Jackson, filling in for the injured Jamal Murray, helped with 20 points.
Jokic played the entire third period in an effort to help a struggling group of reserves. He also spent energy trying to fend off center Kevon Looney.
The Serbian had the opportunity to secure the victory from the penalty line, with 15 seconds remaining and with the Nuggets up 107-105, but he missed both of his shots.
A Stephen Curry floater in the alley might have tied the score but was unsuccessful, and the ball went out of bounds.
Jackson made one of two free throws with 3.5 seconds left and Klay Thompson mightn’t get a shot off before the buzzer sounded. The NBA champion Nuggets improved to 6-0 at home this season.
